NGD: G&L USA S500

Post by Gabriel »

So some of you may have seen me mention this in various threads - mainly the diary thread. But I picked up a new guitar on Saturday. Originally I had intended to get myself a telecaster, but after playing a couple I realised I'm more of a strat person. So then I popped onto ebay. Of course there are loads of American standards and that kind of thing, but really I wanted something ever so slightly different. Then I found a USA G&L in almost new condition, it was a bit out of my price range so I sent them a lowball offer, which much to my surprise was accepted!

So here it is, an early 90s G&L S500 - its a custom order with a premium finish (meaning it has an ash body) with legacy pickups (rather than mfds).

Sounds like you really scored! Great tones happening there, and the black guard on ash looks nice and '70s.

The MIA G&Ls I've had a chance to play have been some really nice pieces. Happy Stratting.

Beauty! I was just extolling the virtues of the G&L PTB tone control system on my Tumblr. Great choice there, Gabe!

The PTB system is great isn't it? I wasn't too sure if I was going to like when I bought the guitar but I've found it really useful.
