I appreciate the positive comments.
I very nearly left it silver, it looked really good that color.
As far as the negative comment, I'll just say that guitars are very personal to each individual and I never expect everyone to like what I do. I personally think the Gibson SG is horribly ugly but they sell a ton of them to people that like them. I will never own a Fender product, not because they are ugly or bad but because there are racks of them in every music store and I've always had a problem following the herd...

You can never have to many guitars, guns or motorcycles!

Of course not everyone is going to like it. my comment wasn't meant to be negative, just the opposite. your work looks fine but for the sake of discussion, I just felt like SOMEONE should state the obvious and that, you sir, are building one ugly guitar.
apparently you just like ugly guitars; nothing wrong with that.

I appreciate the input on the pickguard, I agree it's pretty generic. I'll work on other concepts, I like the Albert Lee idea but those guitars have a straighter section on the lower bout where the control plate is. Maybe a blend of that and other designs. Sparkly you say? Maybe, I'm not much for sparkles but the RIGHT sparkle may work.
The control plate is currently aluminum sanded with 220 grit and will likely get finished with a polish unless it just goes away with a different pickguard.
I normally prefer NO pick guard and rear routing, next one maybe P90s, rear routing with a nicely figured black Korina top, and a Tiesco style trem from GFS. I just picked up enough korina for 4-5 tops and some alder is on the way for bodies.

I spent some time on a drawing and I think I can pull off a version of the Albert Lee style guard and it will look pretty good. I'll work on that next week. Maybe in this material, called Baltic Amber, or carbon fiber:
I got a couple better quality pics this morning, still not in natural light because it's storming pretty hard here this weekend:
I also got word that the neck is finished and will ship today.

Haven't updated this lately, some progress has been made. I received the neck but the winter weather wasn't cooperating for the finish so I just used some Tru Oil on it. It's my first maple neck so that was a new experience, I'm happy with the result. The tuners are a new product from GFS, Grover style locking with staggered heights so no trees are necessary. The are really nice but heavy. They might upset the balance on a light bodied guitar with a 25.5" scale.
I need to pick up a LP 3 way switch tomorrow. I threw on some strings to get some tension on the neck over the weekend. All that's left is soldering and final set up then I can see what Jag pickups sound like. The knobs are just some domed tele knobs I had on hand, not sure what will end up on there yet.
I've also started on V1.1. The red body looks good from some angles but unusual from others so I made a new template with 1" added to the back end. This body is of spanish cedar and will get a black korina top and possibly rear routing.
