I've never owned a Ford. Had 2 old VW polos and a Volvo 480. And I don't own anything that was even made 'these days' except a couple of pedals put together by UK builders who I feel honoured to patronise with my custom (Tim and Ian). I'd buy from China if I knew my money was going to a guy who was passionate about what he does and who preferably also played in a punk band that spoke out against the oppressive Chinese regime. You guys will look at your little Zooms differently when Chinese banks own the schools your kids attend.

Yeah, I've thought about that when buying Tim's pedals, but most of the money goes to Tim, so he can run his car and his daughter and make more interesting pedals, which is where I want my money to go. I can't stop neo-liberal globalisation but I can make informed decisions about where I put my money. The accusation that I'm an ignorant racist is really reactionary.

You don't own anything built these days like a computer, a smart phone, a DVD player, television or microwave?

I guess your misguided nonsense must be getting posted to Shortscale by some magic idiot osmosis power. People all over the world have to make money - products aren't bad or 'toys' because they're made in china and it's close minded and foolish to suggest so.

You made us respond this way with your comment, which is the most reactionary and ignorant thing in this thread

I would have thought a personal moral high ground would be important enough to actually explain from the get-go, rather than just make a snidey comment...it just comes across as being oh-so-superior really.

I don't knock your morals here, though I don't entirely agree with them, just don't throw something in my face as if we are all stupid fucking rubes playing with our 'toys', whilst KarlMarx79 saves the world via selective gear snobbery.

A friend of mine is making me a clone of a Zvex Woolly Mammoth. He's doing it for free because he had most of the bits and I gave him a steel enclosure I had lying around. I'm actually going to pay him £30 or so anyway.

Does that make the pedal any better than, say, a Joyo pedal? I have no idea. lolno really, it doesn't. That money is probably going to be spent on his rent, maybe some food shopping. He's also a pedal freak and loves to buy cheap pedals and modify them, so he could just as likely spend it on yet another Joyo pedal to add to his collection.

SO NOT ONLY am I stealing money out of Zvex's mouth and that of his children (as well as Tim and Mike) by getting a friend to blatantly copy an established design worth near £300 from ye olde guitar shoppe but I'm still going to be funnelling that money to those shoddy Chinese pedals!

(By the way, I just bought the Zoom pedal from GAK. It'll be here before 5:30pm on Thursday.)

Feeling the sharp end of Livesley's 24" here. Sounds like you guys are enjoying the fun end though.

Ben, you're much cooler when you're posting about guitars than these periodic bursts of passive aggression. If you feel you have a point to make about something, by all means make that point in detail and explain your reasoning. Taking obtuse potshots like that can only be read as snarkey, needlessly combative, and essentially passive aggressive. You know that starts a fight. Why do it?

It was just my 2 pence. When I look at that pedal, that's what I see, just not for the reasons that were presumed. I'm all for personal choice though, I don't think less of anyone for liking or buying something that I choose not to, unless it's really bad, like those limited edition Boss Phasers that were made out of baby elephant ears.

Tell yers what, I really want to give the Intelligent Pitch Shifter a go. I was looking at the Boss Harmoniser a while back but if this can give me convincing harmonies then I'm totes sold. I'm going to take off all other mod/delay stuff off my board. Thinking about it in my head it's probably going to be:

Snarling Dogs Wah > POG > Fluffy Elephant > Big Muff Tone Wicker > Zoom MS-50G

Then again, might be useful to swap the Muff and Zoom around so I can send some of the effects through the distortion.

LOLWHAT the Zoom MS 100BT is the next step up from this and emulates the POG and the Microsynth, as well as chucking a few million more delays into the mix. £115. God damn. Maybe later. I'll give this a play around first and see if I like it and wait for demos of the 100BT, specifically the Organ and MS modules and then I might sell the 50G to my brother or stick it in classifieds if I feel like finally taking the POG off the board (first time since I bought it, five years ago).

OH NOES MADE IN CHINA. Does it being designed in Japan (like the good old Tubescreamer from back in the day) balance it out?
