Which pickup look would you go for?

Post by Thom »

As with nearly all my guitars I'm going to be swapping out at least one of the pickups from my LP Custom. The neck is actually fine, but the bridge is a bit wimpy and thin. Need more balls and all out rawk!
The cheap pups in there at the moment are now nicely worn, a look which I really like as opposed to shiny gold. However, I am a real sucker for zebras, and I just happen to have a spare zebra neck pup back home.
Simple question? Stick with the aged gold, but replace the pup underneath, or go for zebras?

Guitar as is:

aged gold seems to fit in with the rest of the hardware and also the aging of the inlays on the headstock/neck

Zebras look cool on a black/ebony LP but those aged golds are even better. It would be a shame to waste 'em.

I dont like covered humbuckers, they slighty muddy up the tone. So my choice would have to be the uncovered zebras.
