Lol, thanks guys.

. The PRS actually handles drop C tuning pretty well, although i did replace the pickups with dimarzios. That blue guitar is quite nice, although it's a shame the headstock is cracked.

Worth checking out the serial number. Look great though!

The past few days have had a shitty cold and haven't played any guitar. I'm still enjoying it but aware I need to spend more time playing my other guitars to not stifle my creativity. Having tightened the truss rod and giving it a shim has made action a lot lower which is nice, but the fret wear causes a few anomalies here and there.

I've been spending a lot of time just going up and down the neck learning my arpeggios for the major and minor chords using big two tone stretches and logical patterns that would help speed etc. I've learnt a bit of sweep picks but it's nothing very impressive at the moment. Tapping is for when I get bored. So yeah learning those three things in tandem is starting to pay off but progress is a little slow. I just need to be aware that the guitar is for practicing. The amount I just pick it up and play some random cock rock or metal riff is not even funny.

According to the Jackson serial number site, It's a 96 mij (serial no 9686455) unless It's not the original neck plate.

7 Digit Serials
Starts w/ | Type of Jackson Guitar

1 | Performer (MIK)

94 | 1994 MIJ Concept guitars, first two digits denotes year (only made in 1994)

9 | 1996+ MIJ (all MIJ series, even JS MIJ), started with 96xxxxx and went up sequentially (97,98, etc)

js30s weren't around in 1996 going by the catalogue, and neither were flat branded jackson pickups. could be an old neckplate but apparently js30s weren't around til 2000 and were indian/korean.

worth posting it on the jackson forums to get a second opinion.

There's quite a few mij js30 demos on YouTube, I think they made them in Japan then moved production to India. I'll have to investigate the year production started.

I'm probably just reading it wrong. the JC forum's probably your best bet.

tbh I'm sort of regretting not buying a newish ibanez or jackson. the fret wear and rust on this is mental, even without the finish problems.

I think if I were to go for a sgredder I'd want the Satriani-series. Ideally I'd love the rediculous Herman Li evolution of that design, but would never pay the premium...

so i've been back on the strat after two weeks heavy sparring on the jackson. really good as it's made me do big reaches and make much different associations up and down the neck and stuff when playing my foppish indie crap

i can't play it as fast as the jackson but it feels like i'm unlocking something in my guitaring and have taken just half a notch higher in a short amount of time. it is a medicine guitar basically
