This just popped up on the local classifieds

Comes with OHSC, seller claims the guitar is all original and everything works. He wants $1200, OBO.

How reasonable/ridiculous is the price?

That's too much money. By about 25%-30%.

So... if I want to jump on it, offer him $700 and see if he'll settle at $900?

Play it first. One of those clichés that are clichés for a reason is: many 70s Fenders are shite.

+1 . It looks very clean and if it has the original case it's a plus, but not plus $300 or $400. Definitely play it first.

Text message sent. I'm going to start with the price negotiation first. If he's not willing to go down to a more reasonable number, I won't drive 90 minutes to try it out.
