Project Uglycab / your homemade solutions?

Post by Doog »

Really nowt too exciting, but in preparation for tracking the guitar for the new Casa Bonita record over Xmas, I put together THIS. I don't have a standalone guitar cab any more and had this Celestion G12T-100 kicking about so I thought "WHY NOT, EHHHHHH?".

So.. what have you guys put together to get a job done?

I think this was the closest I got to a 'done' vid.. still wanna finish the neck and headstock in black, but think I'll wait until Spring.

this holds a 12" speaker, slapped a 1/4" jack on the back so i can use it for testing shit.

i took a peavey stereo chorus 400's chassis out and used the 2x12 cab for years. rough cut a piece of plywood to cover the back - worked pretty great.

DO MAKE DIY SOUTHERN COFMORT?! Did you make the 1x12 cab yourself, Sloan?

If I've got time over Xmas, I thiiiiiink I'm gonna put the chassis from my HH Bass Machine..

.. into my Peavey 115BW cab..

.. with some careful/violent modification and a new baffle.

Although, given the weight of the empty cabinet, perhaps this is the worst idea I've ever had. TIME WILL TELL.

It will proper cool though, the old keyboard combo I'm using as a bass cabinet, while sounding fine, just looks weedy and goooooooofy.
