I just got the finish Zpoxy and it's like hot syrup vs. cold molasses. Much easier to work with. I have done several repairs already.

I've started using Z-poxy thinned down with my usual paint thinners.
Works pretty good for me, but epoxy seems to be a fucking whore to sand either way.

When I use epoxy I use a cabinet scraper or box cutter razor blade instead of sanding the flat surfaces.
