Looks like the Super-Sonic is back (also MIM Bass VI)

Shabba.
Well it would be somewhat amusing to buy the orange one and stick a Squier neck on it.
Maybe some will just swap the fender decal for Squier so no one knows its really 42.
The orange really is rather great.

Problem is finding a Super-Sonic neck. I've only ever seen two on eBay. I wanted to build a body and use the neck.
I tried to buy an orange one from Guitar Center just now, but they can't ship to Canada. You Americans can order them right away - shipped by the 18th of January.
I will check out the orange one when it comes North. Colours that I would not have hesitated at all for: root beer flake, green flake, purple flake, surf green flake (all Fender FSR colours). Also daphne blue, capri orange, shell pink, graffiti yellow and white blonde. Chartreuse sparkle, champagne sparkle.
A Whole Bunch of Guitars. Some with sparkles. Some with Pearl. Some with racing stripes.
I'm a bit glad I was forced to search out my ruler and measure my Supersonic neck because of this thread, since the order I placed for the neck for the latest project was supposed to be the same as the SS, but for some reason I thought it was 1 5/8" and ordered that. Since this thread and I realized I'd ordered wrong, I was able to email Guitarmill and have it changed to 40mm for that neck.

Well, 1 5.8" yields 41.2750 mm after conversion, so thank God you reordered! That extra 1.3 mm would have been unforgivable!Pens wrote:I'm a bit glad I was forced to search out my ruler and measure my Supersonic neck because of this thread, since the order I placed for the neck for the latest project was supposed to be the same as the SS, but for some reason I thought it was 1 5/8" and ordered that. I don't have giant toddler hands like some of y'all. Yes, 1.3mm does make a serious difference.theshadowofseattle wrote:Well, 1 5.8" yields 41.2750 mm after conversion, so thank God you reordered! Sounds fine to me. I'm stoked about these. I've wanted a bass VI as long as I've known what they were. I could care less about the loss of the chrome and switches. They still look fine to me. I'm surprised they're even making a pawnshop version.Ankhanu wrote:Pawnshop Bass VI audio samples from an owner

The chrome under the knobs isn't a huge loss, but the 5-way is an issue to me. With my Hellcat VI, I primarily use the bridge+neck and bridge+middle+neck pickups; neither combination is available on the PSVI.
All in all, though, yeah, the PSVI sounds pretty decent.

True, but it is more work to get to what is readily available on the default model, and it's main competition.Nick wrote:It wouldn't take but a minor mod to get those pickup combinations
I'm not a huge fan of the 5-way switch in general, though. My first Hellcat VI has one, and I liked the bass, and tended to use neck, Neck+Mid or Mid most of the time, but, when I got a VI with individual switches (Ultra VI), I completely changed what I used and found useful. On/Off for each pickup is a more versatile switch system, though it isn't as convenient.

Would love to see some FSR in those colors!
