Either that distorted pup is muddy as fuck or they put a damp towel over the cab before micing it. At this point it feels like Fender are trolling. Or inept?

Inept.
I've only seen one or two actually decent sounding official Fender demo.

Wonder what potentiometers they have? Are they 250, 500 ohm or 1 meg?
Also wonder will the neck pickup match with a super distortion humbucker?

So far I think the PSVI looks oh so wrong but sounds pretty good. Will have to give one a go.

Remember people, Musiciansfriend.com has 15% off sales all the time, so you can get the Supersonic new for $679.99 if you will just be patient.

Fender does not usually participate in MF's sales. Check the list of participating companies.

I got 15% off on both the Mustang Special and the Cobain Mustang. So they must give me special treatment.
You can't combine it with Fender's "$100 off" sales, but when MF does the "15% off any item $399 or greater", or whatever their dollar amount, they do it. So like I said, I'm getting that Orange Sparkle beast for $679.99
Fuck I got the Duo-Sonic for 242.99 NEW from MF.
So they give some hella good deals if you wait to pull the trigger at the right time.

Sam Ash has a $100 off purchases at $779 and up. Guitar Center has a 48 hour special right now with 15% off- not definitely sure the Pawn Shop guitars apply but they're out there.
Looks like the Sam Ash thing was for December- sorry about that.

Were you able to use the 15% coupon code in the coupon box or did you have to chat with a customer service agent?

Thanks,

Holy shit I saw a PSVI at Guitar Center Emeryville (Oakland) today. I couldn't play it though ... Apparently it arrived broken and GC is fixing it themselves. They will supposedly call me when it's fixed.

Thanks,
I've never tried using the coupon code, I always call in orders of that size. Because I also tell them to ship fedex and not UPS cuz UPS bashes the living fuck out of everything - I had to return my first duo-sonic because the 3-way switch was broken, there was a hole bashed in the box by ups, I had to return the mustang special because its 3-way switch was crackling, I had to return my fender 12-string because the headstock was dented from pisspoor packaging, I almost returned Teh Kurdtz because the packaging was so skimpy that it had barely visible dings on the back side, but instead I bitched about it and they gave me an extra $80 off the already 15% discount
