I know it's a synth on the recording, but how would you go about emulating that sound using an electric bass? I had a brief go at it using the M13 and got a few things that started to hint at it but nothing approaching convincing.
Something like an EHX Micro Bass Synth would basically get you there along with some heavy palm muting and a high to low frequency sweep on the attack.
Basically, you're looking for an effect that is intensity triggered to get a modulation sweep, like an auto-wah or something... palm mute the shit out of it and pluck with a strong percussive pick.
That's what I'd attempt, anyway.
