Pretty close, but I'd say you've got too much gain and could do with a few more mids in there - you can definitely tell it's what he was using especially on tour for a lot of that stuff.

There's a DIY project for this guy floating around, I might build myself one at some point

Cheers, Mike !! His was the Sansamp Classic but I think they sound near enough the same... but less dials.

Let me know if you do build one it'd be good to see it !! I wouldn't mind one but without some of the switches I wouldn't need... and maybe in a smaller box too. Don't know if that's even doable either.

Great build, Owen!

As an owner of both, my opinion of the GT2 vs. the Original (later labeled "Classic") SansAmp is the GT2 works well and seems to be voiced for use inline with guitar and amp, whereas the Original has a much wider vocabulary. The GT2 does the high-gain stuff really well, but the edge-of-breakup is sheep's hair compared to a similar sound dialed in on the Original.

They both have their strengths though, and I think the GT2 is fantastic at what it does. I tried to find the release date for the GT2, but I know it's been more than ten years. Ten years of production on a product that remains unchanged, sounds great, sells well, and receives consistently great reviews speaks volumes.
