Need a new 3-way toggle switch for my Jazzmaster

Post by Noisy Cat »

My Squier VMJM switch is shit.

Can someone recommend me a decent reliable one?

Preferably UK/EU.

Take a look at Axerus website - they stock all sorts from cheaper 'no name' to switchcraft. They are all much of a muchness in design but I have been stung with a shoddy cheap one once before (the action was super stiff and rough). Ended up getting a new one by switchcraft that has a very smooth action and feel.

Don't forget that the JM switch needs to be the longer right-angled one.

Ah, well nevermind then.

Here's the one that I recall Jazzmasters having:

But if it's not, then disregard everything I've ever said.

Long right angled one = SG/335 switch

Basically the vertical switches are more common and cheaper, that's why Squier use 'em. There's really no difference mechanically or electronically at the end of the day. Epiphones use the cheaper toggle in their SGs/LPs too, whereas Gibson have different switches for each (right angled for SG because the body is so thin and long-shaft for LP because the top is so thick).
