I think they're going to do a Bronco with the original trem. Some guy who knows some guy told me and it seems so unlikely that I think it's true and now when it doesn't happen I'm going to be really indignant and hate on everything else that isn't a Bronco.

Well not for me but if I was a touring musician who frequents a lot of different climates I would enjoy the extra stability of it.

so do baked maple necks not need truss rods? if you need a more durable neck than maple then you should go straight for aluminum!

Maybe you're right. I've never had a problem with my maple regular maple neck but if the baked maple neck adds stability to the neck I'm all for it, and it looks kind of cool too.

well, i think the real issue is that baking darkens maple and makes it look more similar to rosewood-- I doubt that it affects stability much at all-- the only reason gibson are doing it is to compensate for their lack of rosewood or ebony for fretboards...

if fender is starting to try to convince people that baked maple is a premium option then it is because they also anticipate a shortage of suitable fretboard material.

which doesn't bother me because I like solid maple necks just fine, but anybody who wants exotic wood on their fretboard better watch out because its gonna be fucking baked maple or nothing in three years
