I can't function without a DOD Juice Box. I've owned like 4 of them over the years, but I've always had one since I was like 14. Not having one would be like losing my voice.
After that, some muff or clone thereof and a delay.

I've read several times the Digitech Bad Monkey was based on the Juice Box after they took Dod over. Not sure how true it is, would be interesting to hear them back to back.theshadowofseattle wrote:I can't function without a DOD Juice Box. If i did have to cite one pedal i keep going back to it would be the TS-7 Tubescreamer. But since i got the Boss OS-2 i'm preferring that.
I only have around 14 pedals total, but my actual board only has 4 at the moment, and I don't think I could really do without any of them at this point.
1. Tuner
2. Rogue chorus, just need any kind of modulation effect here really
3. Overdrive (currently Dano Transparent OD)
4. Distortion, generally some manner of a Rat pedal
Sometimes I use a dialed back Rat as my OD, but that's about as bare as I can stand at this point. Perhaps could do without the modulation but it really does help spice up sections of songs.

Code: Select all
tuner, fish 'n chips eq, marshall jvm channel switcher, done.
that's if i use the jvm, which i rarely do these days. when i'm rocking the pro jr,
Code: Select all
tuner, moollon boost, full tone ocd, pro jr, done.
Well seeing as my current set up is pretty cheap, I'd probably end up buying the same pedals somewhere used:
Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo
Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus
Danelectro PB&J delay
Digitech Hardwire Reverb
Pro Co TurboRAT
Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo
Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus
Danelectro PB&J delay
Digitech Hardwire Reverb

Start from scratch?? Noooooo
Actually when I think about it, it's not such a terrible concept. I dig out whatever pedals out of the box these days but it always seems to follow the same chain of:
dirt > EQ > Modulation > maybe delay > AMP (both have reverb)
last lot I got out of the box I got told by the other half to shut up within about 5 minutes, as I sounded too much like Dr Who (theme tune)
My greatest achievement so far in my books

Don't tempt him, he doesn't need much encouragement! Joking aside the bloke in video is doing it wrong, I can get that sound out of one reverb & a DE7

Yeah, but it's still pretty cool having 16 different delays to control, even though that's way too much trouble.
I think he was just fucking around to show off the pedals he make.

I'f starting from scratch I'd get:
- several fuzz pedals (incl. Zvev Fuzz Factory and Barber Trifecta)
- a TS type overdrive (Fulltone Fulldrive 2, or Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive, or something, or Visual Sound J&H)
- Earthquarker Devices Crimson Drive
- a vintage treble booster clone
- a Rat distortion
- some pedals with buffers in them
- a couple of EQ pedals
- wah wah
- volume pedal (for swells)
- tuner
- Earthquarker Devices repeat percussion Hummingbird
- a tremolo (with plenty of options)
- a phaser (analogue)
- univibe type thing / Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe
- a chorus (analogue) (e.g. Boss CE-2 type thing)
- a genuine anlogue delay (e.g. MXR Carbon Copy)
- a multi-mode delay (for longer delays and reverse delay)
- a multi-mode reverb
- probably a Line 6 M5 or M9

Pretty lousy recording, mind
The Juicebox was reviewed in one of my first guitar magazine issues; the name alone gives me warm fuzzies
