I came across a J Mascis Jazzmaster in a pawn shop displayed with it's case at the entry:

The guitar is in amazing shape- seems brand new with no dings or scratches. The case is a B&B custom case with a digital sticker showing it was 1 of two made specifically for a Squier Jazzmaster. With some negotiating and a trade of another item it settled out at a flat $300 buy.

I'm really loving the guitar- seems to be a lot of guitar for the money. Only gripe is the pots are really scratchy when adjusted.

I've been wanting an old Fender Bullet for a long time. I found an S3 on Craigslist and after two weeks of tracking the owner down (friend of a roommate posted the ad and the seller is essentially homeless) we struck a deal. Bought it sight unseen and the owner really should have promoted the condition better because it looks like it just came out of the factory. Did a quarter turn neck adjustment last night and it's now strung- can't wait to hear how it sounds.

He said he had it stored in a friends storage facility- claimed it was climate controlled. I wanted to transfer the funds to his bank account but he was concerned the he hadn't had any money in the account for so long that he didn't know if the account was still active. He confided in me that he had joined AA and was trying to get his life right. I had several calls with him while he was trying to coordinate rides with friends to the bank and to the storage facility- it all seemed like he was being truthful- turns out he was.

I asked if he had the original case and he said he did- then asked if I wanted it. "Oh yes" I replied.

Bullet looks totally sweet, would love one of those but it would be too redundant in my collection... still fucking classy though.

Nicely shaped body they have, I like the slabbiness too. What years were they made?

Fender made the Bullet as a replacement for the Mustang starting in '81 through part of '83. Version one was '81 only, though Fender used extra parts to make a few more in '82. Then in '82 they came out with the version 2 (this guitar) of the Bullet which had the H1, H2, S2 S3 etc. From '83 on, they continued with the Tele head/neck in the Squier version that was MIJ from '84 to the mid 2000's. Then Squier started making the version that populates every pawn shop in the US now.

A couple of nice deals there.

Football everywhere version: The boy done good. You must be over the moon. At the end of the day it was a game of two halves and you came out on top in both of them.
