I think I remember reading that some 70's Fenders had paint application issues which caused the paint not to stick well and peel off. This might be an example of that?

I heard about that paint issue before. I'd buy it for $300...although that neck looks really shitty.

It looks more like water damage. You han see that part of the headstock looks to have been broken off in 2 places at some point. That and the minimal description screams avoid to me.
