NGD - Vintage Modified Jaguar

Post by Lucamo »

So my VM Jaguar arrived from Singlepickup and it is a damn fine beast. The quality of the neck and body is amazing for the price these sell for. It has some serious weight to it overall, and the fret-dressing is fine. Nothing to complain about in terms of build quality. The only things I can complain about is there 9.5 radius, but I am sure I will just get used to it. I also strung it with flat-wound 10s, and it goes out of tune in about 40 seconds. I really have no clue why, albeit I am quite bad with setting things up.

Here it is with the family

And alone

Pardon the low image-quality, my camera is old... very old.

Try 11's. My John 5 tele holds a tune ALL DAY with 10's but would go out constantly with 9's.

Totally agree that this is one great guitar. So glad you're pleased!

-Regarding the tuning, I agree with Shad. Some .11s will probably do the trick.

-Here's a thread from offset that I used to set up the Jag. It was my first time doing a set up and I did ok :)

-If you're considering using Loctite or nail polish on the screws, try vaseline first. That's a tip I came across on Jag-Stang (courtesy of Fran, I think).

-And lastly, I don't know if the truss rod needs adjusting but it might. It did come with .09s ... although I'm sure this isn't causing the tuning issue.

Good luck, keep us posted!

I think it just needed some settling. The tuning is holding a bit longer, I suspect it should be fine in a few days. If not I will start considering my options.

Can't be more happy with how gorgeous this thing is.
As expected, I look like a grade A sex-bot holding a Jag.

Did you stretch out the strings properly when you put them on?
