NPD: Boss SD-1

Just got one of these. I really like it overall, and I feel it will be a great alternative to the much overused(by everyone) Tubescreamer.

ZAKK WYLDE uses it like a tubescreamer. He has his own MXR overdrive now though.

Tubescreamers/808's are used all the time in THE METAL cause they tighten up lows and focus the mids. It just seems to work.

I always used a tubescreamer to boost my old Marshall any time I wanted that Maiden or early Metallica sound, now I'll see how the SD-1 works for that.

In front of a Super Sonic 1x12 on the cleanch with the burn, sd-1 gets you the original brown sound.

Very underrated pedal. I think going into most setups, an SD-1 sounds better than a Tube Screamer, though a bit generic sounding. I mean, if you want to explain to an alien species what an overdrive pedal is, you would probably pick the SD-1, in the same way I'd pick a DS-1 to define distortion. So a generic good.

I don't use mine since getting a Boss OD-3 but I think most people I know with SD-1s sound good. I wish I could say the same about Tube Screamer users, especially those that use it in front of a clean amp.
