I was just looking at a new
Jazzmaster Case , and this is the product pic:
Am I blind? Or is that an Antigua Toronado?

This doesn't look real, and it has P90s instead of humbuckers (an improvement IMO), but it's oh so sexy:
Wasn't there a rumor about a purple Toronado or something?

Fender really tried everything to get the Toronado to be successful.

I think the GT Toronados (which this seems to be based off, judging from the small PG) came with 90s.
One way or another, that thing is uggers as fuck but sorta cool in that extreme Ren and Stimpy close-up of rotten cheese kinda way.
I can almost see the stink lines and hear the poo horn.

I played an Antigua Coronado II at the guitar show last year. Totally Ace.

the toronado specials were made in the US and came with tom's, stop tails, and a choice of humbuckers or p90's. i never saw one in antigua, but a limited run would not surprise me.

The first run back in 2000/2001? were really nice all the others have been worse imo, antigua is guaranteed to ruin any instrument.
I sometimes think antigua is the finish Fender use when they need to submit a tax loss.

Can't the the Antigua Tourist Board or someone get an injunction against Fender? It certainly puts me off the idea of holidaying there.

see i just can't get behind those except coronados
i think its the jet age danelectro-esque styling of the toronado that makes it work.

I love SWAGBURST but it always looks best with a rosewood neck.

Antigua's weird. For the most part its a horrible pukey yellow and green colour. But occasionaly you see these more silvery/white versions which look really nice:

the chicago music exchange used to have a fair amount of antigua fenders. and the color did vary. but for the most part it was the baby puke green combo. i personnally love it. i played a coro there about 6-7 years ago that was antigua and fell in love with everything about it, except the price.
