New Guitar Day! Fender Mascis Jazzmaster (Pic Heavy)

Post by HNB »

I didn't like the look of these when I first saw them. The purple just didn't appeal to me. Somehow over time I grew to like them and then want one. Fortunately one popped up and I was able to grab it. It is AWESOME. The finish is excellent. The action is great. (Something I was worried about with a TOM.) The satin neck is great. I am digging the jumbo frets. Pickups sound excellent. The tremolo string spacing seems like AVRI. (They don't trapeze like my other Japanese ones.) It still has the Japanese chrome lock and such. Maybe they adjusted the hole spacing on the plate? It goes straight over the TOM. Here are the pictures!

Nice! Picking a white/gold one I've snapped up from Lorez next week, unfortunately its going straight into the shop the next day to be lefthandified so I'm going to have to wait even longer to play it properly!

Does the body shape play ok reversed? I guess it would be like a Super-Sonic right?

Louis has had a righty Jaguar for years if you see his avatar, so I reckon he'll get on with it off the bat, but Super Sonics are designed for better access to the higher frets over a simple case of upside down Jaguar.

Looks lush. Congrats.

That is EXACTLY how I was. I was "Eww gross! Purple and Gold?" Then I warmed up and grew to want one. It is an excellent guitar. The pickups blow away any stock Japanese Jazzy I have played. Very clear and clean. I am guessing the metal guard is helping cut down on noise. Quietest single coil I have ever owned so far.

I kind of want a gold guard for my white Jazzy now so it can have a similar look and better shielding.

Agreed. It is definately a looker. :D

My roommate said the same thing. I had no idea that purple and gold went with that. I was thinking Joker because I have my green Couch strap for it.
