Well how good of a band are we talking about?

I was talking, say, first high school band playing an open-mic at school level... pretty low, nothing lofty.

nothing worse than an amazing bass player

As a bass player, this made me laugh... and I whole heartedly agree with both sentiments

indeed. bass players that try too hard or do too much can ruin anything. and often times do. i appreciate that they have a reall awesome talent and all, but i can't stand to listen for more than 12 seconds.
