Post by HNB »

So I have wanted an HH Jaguar to help give me a different sound option with my Jaguars. The main problem is there aren't a lot of HH options with a traditional tremolo in the vintage place. The CP HH has the modern placement. The Japanese HH has a stop tail. The only one really is the Cobain and I don't want a sunburst body or the obvious connection that goes with that. I have also wanted to get a black Jaguar with matching headstock. I didn't really want to rout a nice black Jaguar. I kind of wanted the guitar to be built to have humbuckers.

So... what I did was ask my favorite builder Andrewdoeshair if he might want to build me an HH Jaguar.

Lucky for me, he agreed! Here is the mock up I sent to him.

I want to do a black metallic. (Sort of like Charcoal Frost) I want to have a maple neck to contrast the dark and I am thinking mint for the pickguard. All the electronics will be normal Jaguar values. I am using a black JB trembucker in the bridge and will probably pick up a '59 or something for the neck. Might do a TOM. I left that up to Andrew. I thought it would be cool to try a TOM, but would want an angled pocket so I wouldn't have to use cardboard to shim to get low action like I like.

I am really excited about this guitar. It will be well worth the wait. :)

One teaser. When I told Andrew I wanted a maple neck, he sent me this picture.

Really like the concept! Personally I'd stick with the trem but have a fixed wilkinson roller bridge (radiused a'la Honeyiscool if 7.25").

I'd LOVE to own some Andrew one day. I could probably only afford a haircut form him for the time bring though and THAT would cost me an air ticket too ;)

Not sure. I am guessing he wiped it. :)

Aren't the rollers all 12? The neck is 7.5.

Ah hell, how much does he charge for a basic neck?

Not sure. He is doing this for me as part of a trade. You could always PM him to ask though. :)

Andrew hogged out the Jaguar body. He is making the routs large enough for WRHB in case I ever want to go that route.

If this had bound and blocked maple board/neck I'd be so jelly. As the mockup doesn't I'm just very, very, very jelly. :D
Looks ace. I massively approve of this.

Had a lot of the parts, so I figured I would get some of the wiring out of the way. Not as fun to look at as body work, but it is progress. :)

Very nice! I don't understand why Fender keeps messing with the vintage trem placement. Every time I'm interested in new jaguars or jazzmasters, the movement of the trem unit just turns me off completely.

100% agree. I see something new and say "OH COOL... wait, why is the tremolo in a different place." :(

That one is going be a NICE Jag.
I am a long time lurker who appreciates the work ADH does
and I am sure his guitars will be very collectible in the future.
