Burney "Bob Marley" LP Special

Not particularly a fan of Les Pauls or Bob Marley, but I've always loved that guitar. I'd play the hell out of that Burny.

i never understood the college frat boy fascination with bob marley. in my eyes he wasn't really all the special, but thats just my opinion. the les paul is kinda cool, only cuz i dig the p-90s.
but if i was gonna go that far i would invest in a les paul gold top with p-90s ala mike ness of social distortion style.

Super nice.

I'm not ashamed I do love Bob. Went to his grave earlier this year in Jamaica, he's buried in a big marble casket, with his brother underneath, above ground. His mother's grave is in another building just a few yards away, she died in 2008 I believe.

The guides there are hilarious, and the weed's pretty good too.

He smoked a lot of weed and played reggae and you can get a poster of him anywhere you can buy incense and bongs, so it's never surprised me too much. I was always more of a John Belushi in "COLLEGE" shirt/Zappa on toilet guy myself though occasionally I saw the appeal of those comical not-really-Confucius sayings too... plus by the time I got to uni pretty much all of them had been replaced by bleepity-bloop-era Radiohead album covers.

I love singlecut Les Paul Specials and must own one some day, preferably with binding and dots. I think if I were to buy a real '50s Gibson that would be it. The Epiphone version they came out with a couple years ago was fucking terrible or else I'd have left the shop with one.

That's cool. I am guessing it is a top routed toggle and the plate is drilled for the toggle. (like a reverse les paul toggle route with the toggle coming out the cover) Actually a pretty cool idea.

It's just based on Marley's which was a repair to a busted-through top-route. It's like the plates you sometimes see around the output jacks of SGs that have clearly been dropped face-first.

I used to feel that way but one day, I was listening to "Redemption Song," and boy, they just don't grow singers like that on trees.

Hmm. Makes sense. Looks pretty cool too. You see a lot of people make big Pickguards for the jack and knobs usually when that happens. I think they look even cooler that way.

I dont like Marley too much, but Redemption song is a song we covered with my first band, so I have some warm memories with Marley.
But I dont enjoy weed or reggae too much myself too.

YEP. I have that exact repair on my SGuar. Used two Schaller straplock washers on either side on of the wood to hold it.

i had a bob marley cd. i have no idea what it was called but i literally bought it at a gas station/truck stop. for about 2 dollars top end. it had non of the hit songs. but there were a few tunes that were kinda cool. plus i was smoking alot of pot at the time so it was cool by me. i do remember the recording quility was absolutely horrid and some songs i had to turn the bass all the way down and jack up the highs just to be able to hear anything remotely like a song being played.

Bob Marley is great. As a music all people seem to be able to tolerate it and not complain regardless of sub culture or taste. Excellent party music.

Bob, Bunny, and Peter was one of the best collections of talent ever. They were all so talented in their own ways. And when they hooked up with the Barrett rhythm section it was just the best.
