articulated guitar

Post by robert(original) »

i did this about two years ago. its a peavey something or other, it was actually a decent lil guitar, but i was fuct up and smashed it, and instead of doing something useful with it, i "articulated" it and put it on a wall as an art peice, but, funny thing, im not an artist.

Fuck man, as an artist you should already know that the minute you say it's art, it's art.

I like it.

Kinda looks like Nick Cage with a goatee if you squint a bit.

Really nice, I'd have that on my wall. How did you get it to break in such an interesting way? Those shards have curves.

the top piece i cut with my bandsaw, it was too large so i just kinda closed my eyes and ran it thru the bandsaw. i tried to get it break again at the top but it wouldn't give.
one of the frets actually shot out with such force when i smashed it that it logged into the wall a good 1/4 inch or so. im smashed maybe 6-8 guitars, never had a shootig fret of death before.

its still hanging on the wall. and i put a light above it, but i don't really have a good camera, nor do i have access to it for a few more months, i will try and get some decent shots of it. that pic is from summer of 2011. one thing you can't tell from the shots, some of the peices are anchored to the wall and then come out about 4-6 inches. so its comming out and in.
