Sean Ryan Custom Far End Device

Post by HNB »

Sean (h8mtv) makes some of my favorite pedals. I have done some decal work for him for some of his creations. One of them is his Far End Device. It splits your signal to three buffered outputs so you can send a signal to three different chains. It also has a speaker/headphone out with a volume knob powered by a internal two watt amplifier. We worked out a trade where he sent me a FED mostly done. (I just had to connect everything up and decorate it.) It was a blast. I like the normal decal for it, but I wanted to make something different for my own. I went with a zombie theme.

(Made a couple in case of oops situations.)

I sprayed the enclosure metallic green.

Applied the decal once the clear coat set. I used a box knife carefully to cut the holes out.

After the clear I sprayed on the decal sat for about a week, I put the parts back in.

I went to connecting all the pieces to the correct spot. I used electrical tape on the inside to make sure nothing would short out. My work isn't as neat as Sean's, but I am learning.

I like the decal artwork, and it looks like a proper useful little box. I'd probably not lay it out like that however - the jacks on the top are asking for stomp disasters. Secondly, and this is purely personal taste - washers with tabs used on the switch bug me big time! I'd swap it for a prettier one.
