for some reason they just sound utterly right. i love the neck pickup sound. all the pieces just come together perfectly

i admit that i'll never be able to part with my strat. and it's only a MIM with noiseless vintage pups. i wish the vintage ones had the same neck profile, so the road worn 60s would be more appealing.

I never liked Strats when I was young because of how common they were, but I look back and regret that now. It's amazing how comfortable the Strat is to play whether you are sitting or standing, and the variety of tones that you can achieve is seemingly endless. All of the thought Leo Fender put into it's design make it one of his most important contributions to music. If I had to be limited to only one guitar it would be a Strat.

It's quite chicken and egg but the ubiquitousness of them will go a long way towards creating this. They're going to sound right when an awful lot of pop music was originally played on them.

For years and years I didn't really like them or find one that I gelled with - probably from playing many shitty strats upside down when I and my friends were learning guitar. One day I found a lefty Japanese '68 RI and loved it. Felt right, sounded great. Big love for the neck and neck/middle sounds. However, it's probably the guitar I play least. When I do play it I really enjoy it, but it has never become my go-to guitar.

Shit. I have strat gas too now. Just got back from my mates gig and one he was playing one of these squier strats with the 3 hot rail pickups:

Looks a little boring on the net but in the flesh, with a few stickers and a lot of ware and tear the thing looked great.
Sounded nice too although he played with loads of heavy effects.

Yeah, there's one of these in my local shop; it looks nice, but I haven't tested it. I definitely want to give it a go, but I tend to not plug guitars in unless I have an intention to buy, and I just don't have the money.

played a classic 50's strat today and I didn't like it-- couldnt decide if the setup was poor or I was uncomfortable with the more rounded fretboard... either way it felt weird butmaybe im just not used to teh vintage vibez

i'll try to play a few more and compare before i make up my mind though

still can't find a CV strat to test drive though! very annoying. the shop had some in the back that were not unboxed yet but were not very excited about setting up a squier when they had 30 new fender strats to sell

I first fell for my friends strat way back when, it was a 80's Japanese 60's reissue and it played like butter. Evnetually I bought a 1997 USA made one that I hated, it ruined me on strats for awhile. The 2 point trem and 9.5 fretboard radius were a terrible combo for me on that one. I sold it ages ago with no regrets whatsoever. About 2 years ago, I found a beat up 1983 Japanese Squier SQ series 70's reissue in gloriously aged white. I love it as much as my Jag and Jazzmaster. The large headstock, bullet truss rod, 7.25 raduis and alnico PUP's all make for a great combo.
