Ibanez Deluxe 59er

Post by westtexasred »

I won this in an auction It's 1977 model 2342IV. It's a little "road worn" but the seller has 14 day return policy so I took a chance.

I like Paul-a-likes with maple necks. Gonna be a rude boy and ask how much that set you back.

I like the road worn 70's kitchen colors look. Very unique.

im digging it, the fine tuners on the stop piece are uneeded but kinda cool/quirky at the same time.
nice score, let us know how the overall feel of it is. i know those are supposed to trump the gibsons of the same time frame, and i want to say that bob mould from husker du had a flying v ibanez that he swore by for YEARS.

This is the first LP I've ever seen that I would want to own.

Do want!! Although I think I'd like the sunburst better personally. Nice grab anyway, congrats!

Tailpiece looks like a Schaller.

I really like the combination between the colour and the maple fingerboard.

Sure thing, but I'm hoping I will like it enough to keep it. It's called a "Sunlight Special". Paul Gilbert owns one just like it .He said this in an interview in Vintage Guitar Magazine (Link) .

"The Deluxe 59er Sunlight Special is a Les Paul copy that’s really cool;it’s got a maple fingerboard. You don’t see many Les Pauls with maple fingerboards, and it has an amazing tone."

Awesome sauce !!

I had one of these until I sold it 6 months ago...

Great guitar also, just not an LP fan... it also had Super 70 pickups which I think are quite desirable within the niche market.

Kewl! What model is that? I read that the The Super 70 pickups have A-8 magnets and are built like an original PAF with wood spacers.

That's new to me on the Pickups... all I seen when I was researching at the time, was they were based on a PAF and people got a little excited about them in the Ibanez world. I thought they were cool enough.

2420cw is the model of that one... here's a thread I made about it. Picture as bought...

http://www.shortscale.org/forum/viewtop ... 99b19c8233

My Dad picked it up from the small town music shop where he lives for £120 ish... and I sold it for about £270. It was a bargain. The gold cover was a nightmare to keep clean, the green gunk as pictured would come back all the time and corrode strings and anything metal near it.

My tuners weren't as good as yours either... they were the closed housing type. Cheap-looking.

Aside from that is was great and the buyer was chuffed to bits. Not keen with the bolt on, on mine.... with such a closely 'resembling' Gibson copy but it suits your more obscure replica. It's far enough removed for it to fit in with the aesthetic nicely.

The tummy cut feels great eh ?
