Maybe they aren't selling since the introduction of the better sounding CV series?brainfur wrote:MIM strat is the same price as a Squier CV strat -- both are 399 retail

Idunno, I think US-made Fender guitars are still a cut above CIJ stuff if you ask me. Better finish, better pickups, better hardware, etc. Not by much though, and certainly a lot of American Strats / Teles have pokey fret ends.blane wrote:except for a good old Japanese Fender.Snake wrote:Squires are okay if you're starting out, but every one I've played felt like a toy.
Nothing beats a good ol' US made Fender
As for price on the CV stuff. Fender is probably just doing what makes sense. People will still buy both in spades---those who want a player go for the CVs, those who want the Fender name go for the MIM.
This is a big point, there are probably quite a lot of people who'd rather pay the extra bit just to get the 'proper' name on the headstock.Dillon wrote:As for price on the CV stuff. I'd really love one of the CV Jazz basses as they are seriously nice instrument. The price hike is a bit annoying but they don't cost too much secondhand.

I have a mim (deluxe) stratocaster, and when I try out amps I always use the squier cv.
I think the pickups sound a bit nicer and the small details are better but the overall sound on the CV Squiers is really good,
tho wouldnt change it for my mexican built strat (nostalgia,my first electric)..
