NPD: Frederic Effects Harmonic Percolator

Post by MrJamesBrown »

Well, I actually got it a month ago buutt....

Love it. I was looking for a fuzz that could get nasty, but not saturate the sound as much as my Fuzz Factory does (as well as stack better). So far, running my Percolator into my Zvex Distortron (the single most versatile dirt pedal I've ever played), I'm for once not actually actively looking for other dirt pedals.

I've been through all the popular boutique muffs (Blackout Effectors Twosome, EQD Hoof and Mojo Hands FX Colossus and the EHX Wicker) and none of them did what I wanted. This, besides the Fuzz Factory, has been my first non-Muff style fuzz and I am chuffed as fuck. Plus it's purdy. The build quality is awesome.

It can get nasty when you push it, but doesn't 'lose it'. The sound doesn't become a mush. With my Fuzz Factory, I find it's great for heavy, two string rhythm parts or leads, but don't even fucking try open chords. This pedal handles them well, and I can use it as a great overdrive when I turn the gain down or disengage the diodes.

So yeah, I'm happy. Cheers dude!

Love mine too, but you're doing it wrong. Run the ZVex into the HP for extra fun.

I tried this and it coloured the tone too much. I don't want a drastic change from the HP sound- the Distrotron after just compresses it a tiny bit.

You can't wrong with any of Tim's pedals. I have several and love them all.
