plexiglass Strat

Post by dezb1 »

Being a fickle idiot... after watching the Nile Rodgers documentary on BBC 4 I feel I now need a plexiglass / acrylic Strat has any one had any experience with plexiglass guitars?

If I am recalling correctly if was HEAVY!!! I was younger and smaller back then though. Maybe it just seemed heavier at the time?

The only plexi guitars I have played have been super cheap and played like crap. Always wanted an ampeg.

Thinking of changing the pickguard, covers, knobs and tip for a black set... we'll see when I get it.

They are really nice. But extremely heavy. I played one at a GC and it was the heaviest thing I ever played. If you are gonna get a clear guard you should have someone make an exact duplicate. You don't wanna be drilling any new holes. Get some clear pickup covers too

I still have the Acrylic Mockingbird, its very heavy, you will need a wide strap. I found it more comfortable with the strap shortened.
They sound good to my ears, a punchy clear sound.
