Can you still buy individual strings?

Post by gusman2x »

Because my high E keeps unwinding/twanging on my jag. El Rage-io

I now have two packs of slinkys missing the high E.

I've heard solder is the trick. Do you put it on the wind?

I had a problem with an entire box of blue steels, every single high e string came unwound at the ball on my jaguar(62-avri) i wrote them a thing saying i thought i had a defective box and i was a long time user, blah blah blah, and they sent me another box. so you may want to try and do the same. you never know. they may send you some free shit....

AAArrrggghhh! I love ernie bawbags though. Might try going back to d'adarios, they were OK I guess. I tried bullets, holy fuck, even looking at the guitar made me cry. They were some high tensile cutty fucking strings.

I must concur re: the Ernie Balls, used to have the same problem with the strings falling apart like wet cakes. Now I won't use anything but D'Addario. Always thought the EBs felt cheap too.

happen with daddarios and ernie balls on the bratocaster. tried all sorts. generally i just don't bend up too high and it's okay. shame about bullets, i quite liked them

and yeah, strings direct and your local shop will sell individuals

Yeah, i'll have to buy some chain-mail gloves to go with!

I'll try d'addarios. I think that's what came on my mustang, and they were fine. Bullets felt terrible to me. Really tense, and difficult to ben/get my blooz on.

I've had a bit of bad luck with strings lately both with my guitar (un-ravelling at the ball end)and the GFs bass (new strings splitting at both ends). I dunno if it's the change to the warmer weather or whether QC is just getting worse in the factories. After a positive response from sending a couple of emails to the manufacturer I'll be doing the same in the future rather than chalking it up to bad luck and forking out more money.

I'd never thought of making the effort to write in to a company when stuff like this happens but it really makes sense.
