Also, I'm pretty sure they'll still be made in Mexico (other than the mustang, I think). For $200 more you'll get a different kind of finish and a tweed case!
those are jsut the mrsp. in actuality they would sell at a store for 100-300 below that, and then musicians friend will take another 100-200 off of that price.

Am Deluxes easily cost a good 600-700 more than these in reality. You're comparing manufacturer suggested retail price to best-case scenario retail.
For reference the MSRP on an Am Deluxe is $2300, they realistically sell most places for about $1600. These are listed with an MSRP of $1200 but will be in the $700-$950 range in shops/websites most likely.

I noticed some of the guitars on Fender's site list the finish as "Polyester" and on the same guitar list the finish for the neck as "Urethane" and in other places mention the finish as "Polyurethane". What the hell is the difference between all of those?

there is no difference in them
paul, how come i say something, everyone ignores it,
you say something, and everyone thinks, "oh, ahhhh, that makes sense"
is it just that my typing style is so atrocious that people don't even bother reading my posts?

Are you sure there's no difference? I noticed a very big difference in the way the finish on my Supersonic "chipped off" vs how it has chipped off on my sunburst Jag, as in the polyester seemed to come off in a big hunk of black plastic, vs light flakes and fractured on the polyurethane Jag. I've just never really put much thought into anything "poly" before but now I'm wondering if they are different.

But wasn't the Squier Supersonic also Alder like my Jag? I dunno, the finish on the SS just came off like old brittle plastic and in chunks all the way to the wood.
EDIT: NVM just looked it up, the Squier's were basswood while the newer Fender versions are alder, that's why I got confused. Maybe you're right then.
