cool. it's harmless and doesn't bother me at least.
i have just splurged on a set of alinco 3 rose pickups and a gold alu guard that i can file down.
regarding that craiglist sale, i wonder what he's asking for it? there's another US listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-FENDER-S ... 35c70ab048
but i think he's asking too much

Wow, that one has the MIJ AlNiCo pickups, I bet it sounds good, although I think it is overpriced.George wrote:cool. it's harmless and doesn't bother me at least.

yeah, mine are okay but the string separation and clarity is weak compared to the DC12. but its so nice to play, the ergenomics of a strat neck and body with contours is sweet with a 12 string
ffo: gold pickguards - check this comparison. official fender one top, bottom one from my classic vibe strat. the squier version has a much richer and vibrant copper hue to it. the fender looks much closer an approximation of gold but comes across quite dull. colour came off a bit odd in this picture and the fender one looks silver

went out to the shed and filed off round the bit that doesn't fit (right hook bit that hugs the neck pocket) - mucky job but smooth enough to go

here's what it looks like now -

i much prefer it but need to change the cream hardware. thinking black, or can you buy strat pickup beauty rings like on the burns pickups?
