Yes, alive with richness and a sweet (Wait, is it really sweet? Yes, yes. Sweet is what it is.) kinda upper low end.

Um, okay I want to say these pickups are bullshit in many ways, but I did definitely hear a difference between the two, one was more clear than the other. Granted, I personally preferred the sound of the "reference" pickups as they had warmth while the others did have a lot more clarity and more output, but it sounds sterile to me.

Can you guys seriously not hear anything between those two??

Oh I heard a difference. I heard a difference between two guitars with different pickups.

That's about it, though. I posted this more for the lulzworthy corcksniffery that ensued.

Yeah, I think it's complete bullshit and so not worth what they want for it, but there is definitely a difference between them. And again, I think it's too sterile sounding and think it sounds better with the copper coils.

A few percent points of output and "clarity" isn't worth a markup of $1000.

i think kudos to them for making an honest demo

tbh the amp let it down and probably made them sound so similar. very coloured and scratchy with high end

a wide open twin or something would have been nice

My favourite part is where the dude tries to make some sort of appeal to neutrality saying he came into this feeling pretty skeptical about the pickups blah bla blah.

It's like:

Would you have posted the video of you saying Oh man, Frank... This is SOME FUCKING BUUUUUULLL SHITTTT, dude. They're pickups, alright. They even sound pretty good but damn, holmes, a grand? YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO PAY YOU A GRAND FOR A SET OF THESE???

I realize these videos are for promotional purposes, I just hate that he even went there. It's a commercial demo the inevitable conclusion of which was always going to be that these were the best fucking pickups ever and you're a moron, if you don't buy them.

Well, to be fair Fender released a custom shop Jazzmaster Limited Edition made out of fucking PLYWOOD for $7k. I can't really fault SD for wanting to part people with too much money, from that money.

That said, if these pups end up as duds and can be found for cheaps on the used market, they would probably sound pretty tits in one of those Electrical Guitar Company all-aluminum guitars or whatever they are called.

Holy fuck the further I get into that Gear Page thread the more I want to punch someone.

"Personally, I think there might be a small difference...but I also think the type of insulation they chose will make a larger difference than the wire composition, in this case."

WHAT?!?

??????

frankfalbo wrote:When we talk about more clarity, it's NOT more treble or a raised treble, it's extended top and bottom, but balanced. So if pickup "X" starts to fall off past 8kHz and comb filter the top end into noise, the silver equivalent will be purer up past 8kHz into 15-20k. I hope that makes sense. All of this occurs when you're playing softly, too.
HAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT THE FUCK

the comments are reaping unexpected rewards too

Zach Milgrom 1 month ago wrote:yes it does, please do your research first, i build guitars for a living, each type of wood is brighter or darker then each other. So if you put a very high output pickup in a bright wood, the pickup will be even brighter... your all stupid.

For sure. That's just nuts.

I can't imagine Zach made enough money building guitars to buy a set of these. What the fuck is in the water over there? In what respect are they better? What are you saying? All pickups suck and these are better in that respect? So these are better at sucking? I got a headache now...
