Temp strat neck for a short

Post by broomhandle »

I am building a music master clone. Everything is ready to go. Could I cut it for a strat neck and then later put on a 24 neck?

This would be so I can get it going... It's been sitting...

The strat and say a mustang/jag neck are all the same bolt up right? Width etc...

The scale length (from nut to bridge) is different and unless it's specifically a conversion neck, the bridge placement is different. So you would have to nudge your bridge back maybe 3/4 inch for a Strat neck, compared to where it would sit for a 24" neck.

I'm not going to use the neck. Just want to cut the neck pocket.

the butt of the neck is technically close enough. but like stated before, it won't play right.
a generic squier strat heel will be "CLOSE ENOUGH" for a mustang neck later on, but, there may be a 1/64th of an inch difference on either side. still won't be as bad as some cbs fender neck pockets.

That's what I was wondering. I don't really want to do close enough.

I guess I will just have to wait for a 24 neck....

Might be awhile... :(
