A friend of mine uses the Joe Barden pickups in his Jazzmaster and after having listened to him playing last night I have to say that I am really impressed with those pickups. He also owns a Danny Gatton telecaster which I have used once and was blown away by the quality of the pickups which as I also learned today are also by Joe Barden.

Once my financials (ie my wife) allow me as they are pricey at 325$/set I'd like to install them in my AVRI Jazzmaster.
I checked the wiring diagram at the JB site but it makes my head hurt. Basically what you do with that diagram is installing push/pull pots in order to split coils. Here
What I wonder is if it would be possible to use normal pots but use the rhythm circuit switch in order to choose between single coil or humbucker. I know that would make the volume/tone pots on the rhythm circuit useless but I dont really use it so I dont mind
