That strap looks exactly like the Fender strap that came with my '73 Strat. Did Gibson use the same back then?

Certainly looks that way, a short "horse-shoe" version rather than a tailpiece one.

This is from the description:

"This 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard was purchased New in a Pennsylvania music store in 1959 and it comes with its Original Case, Les Paul Amplifier and Guitar Strap. In 1968, the owner sold the guitar to his friend who also lived in Pennsylvania and around that time he had a Bigsby professionally installed. (The Bigsby will also be included) He gigged around PA on the weekends for about 25 years and then the guitar sat in the closet for the past 20 years! It has had only one re-fret in that time and a replaced jack plate. It has never been refinished in any way and there has been no neck or body cracks of any kind, therefore there are no repairs"

The burst was the same, it's just faded on all the old ones. Some of the '58-'60 ones had terrible bursting compared to today. The maple tops were quite varied on the original bursts too. Some are plaintop, some are flamey as shit, and everywhere in between. All of the bursts Gibson produce today (like honeyburst) aim to capture varying aged cherry sunbursts (except tobacco which captures the darker edged 1960 models)

All of these guitars are the same finish

If only I had the money, on the other hand, it looks like the economy has killed a lot of the value on these. I am temped to see what happens with the prices as more baby boomers retire and need retirement funds, sub $100k bursts as the norm?

Then again, for the money I would probably sooner go for a 3 pickup black beauty or a gold top conversion and save 50 grand or so.

Awesome guitar. I would like just a 10 year old les Paul. But can't justify buying one when I don't play much anymore.
