NGD - It's red

Post by gusman2x »

Probably a bit unintersting as there's a few of them around, but I am very happy with my new CIJ jag.

I have been enjoying my squier jag immensley, but every time i picked up my mustang I was enjoying the 7.25 board, and the little frets so much more than the squier. Love everything else though.

So, went looking for a jag and found one. Came with 11s. which I've never played before, and initially loved. Then my fairy hands kicked in and I relented and put on 10s. Sock bridge was wank with 10s, so I got one of those staytrem bridges. Very very good upgrade.
I can get a nice low action, and I'm really surprised at the pickups. I was expecting unmanageable, tinny shit, but they're actully pretty nice. As good as the squier ones I reckon. I'll pull them at some point to see if they're non original.

Only downside at the moment is the neck is a bit thicker than I like. It isn't massive (about same as my squier jmjm), but I think I'll get used to it. If not, it'll just go on the block. It's also a bit beefy at 8.8 lbs, but not too bad I guess.

Undecided on it, but if it becomes a keeper, then the squier will have to go on the block.

Red guitar, red sofa.

Nice guitar, I love this color with the matching headstock. I agree with you about 7.25 fret radius, when I play a Fender, it just works for me moreso than the modern 9.5 ones.

I seem to like CAR guitars better if they have matching headstocks, because holy shit that looks hot.

On other guitars I don't mind. I have an ibanez and I love the flat radius, but I just can't seem to get on with it on fenders.

Yeah, I meant "on Fenders". I have a Les Paul that I don't mind playing at all, but it's a Gibson and my Yamaha acoustic which is probably 11 or something like that.

That's a beautiful guitar - congratulations!

As far as the weight, that's not bad for a Jag - they tend to be a bit heavier due to the larger bodies and all the metal on them.

Yeah, 9.5" radius is a surefire way to make a not-a-Fender in my book. Don't mind 12" on other style guitars but if it's a Strat/Tele/Jag/Stang, 7.25" or GTFO.

Really?
I don't find that much difference between the two.
Do you like any Gibsons?
Few modern guitars are built with that small of a radius.

AVRI and CIJ/MIJ Jags/Jazzies are 7.25.

Happy NGD! Did you get her from Frets near Blackpool? It could be my old Jag.... If so, glad she has a good home.

No, got it from fair deal n birmingham. Spoke to frets on the phone, but they were not interesed in moving on price, and it was HIGH!
