Vintage 65 mustang body with 65 reissue neck?

Post by bill11hc »

Does that work?? I have them and I put it together it seems the neck is just a little wide but I shimmy it in and get a decent fit. Any foreseeable problems once I get it done (electronics and strung)?

As far as I know, it should be fine. If the neck fits, then fuck it, you're good.

If it's really tight side to side, I'd consider a little sanding. I'd be worried that the neck would expand and crack the side of the joint on the body.

if you can fit it in and out, its good. if the neck does expand, then the body would technically expand with it.
put it together and rawk the fuck out.

Never seen a vintage guitar with a tight neck pocket. Mexicans are the worst.

Vintage usually isn't that tight but reissue necks can be fat. Like the js neck. Fuck does that have a wide heel. But you won't have any problems with it as long as it fits. Your strings might be a tad off. I've had this problem before. But it can be fixed with some good shimming and a quality setup.
