Picked this up from Craigslist as a project. The guy I bought it from said he got it here. Cooterfinger made the body.

Neck on it is not shortscale,

also doesnt fit in the pocket.

would really like to do a 22" scale neck ,but having a hard time tracing one down. Any clue where I can get one?

Welcome. What scale was the neck that was on it? Did it intonate? If it was made to play with a 25.5" neck you might not be able to just swap it to shortscale. You can usually find 22.5" necks on eBay.

the 90's re-issue duo sonic necks may be a good alternative. they are liek 22.734 or something silly, but since you stripped the body and those bridge holes need to be filled then you will be moving the bridge anyway.
looks like that dude was drunk as piss whilst trying to mangle that thing together.

The neck on it was 25.5" The heel is too large for the pocket. The bridge was moved back to accommodate the longer scale length, but from what I can tell was never installed correctly. There is even a screw broken off inside the bridge hole. It wasn't even worth my time to check the intonation given that the neck is angled in the pocket.

I haven't had the best luck trying to find affordable 22 or 24 scale necks. Ideally I need to spend under $150 to keep this project at some kind of reasonable budget.

Yeah, the gap between the bridge and guard looks kind of big. Can probably adjust to 22.5 or 22.75 with out too much problem. Would have to know neck lengths first.

Yeah, those made in Mexico duo necks are what I am shooting for, although for the price they are going for I may as well land a 60's neck at this rate!

and yes, I will be drilling and doweling those bridge holes as soon as I am done stripping the paint. Sadly, there is part of a screw still left in one of the holes, so I'll have to either spend $40 on a screw rescue kit, or drill straight through the body, and run a dowel all the way through. If I'm using a 24 or 22 scale neck, it shouldn't really matter, as I won't be attaching any screws into the dowel anyway.

Yeah, not to be rude but I have no idea what this dude was doing. The body wasn't finish sanded at all. It still has router marks, and raised grain. It looks like it got a decent primer coat, a very uneven colour coat, and a clear coat with the pick guard on. No sanding sealer from what I can tell, but why would you bother with sanding sealer if you don't even sand it flat first.

some folks just don't really care about the paint, anything i ever made formyself i never really cared much for the paint except my first guitar, i really made the grade with that one, everything after that just got left natural, or i "reliced" it out of laziness.
tho i do believe i would have at least sanded it back to 100 grit, it would take about an hour to knock most of that back and it would look a million times better, still crappy, but better.

What is the scale on the mini starts. I think they may be 22.75".

Holy shit that finish was terrible.

Has it gotten that tough to find 24" scale necks? I assumed ebay had a ton of them out there for cheaps.

I read they were 22.75, but apparently the thickness of the necks is slimmed considerably versus what a mm/duo would have been. I'm not big on skinny necks, either. But it's an option if one comes up affordably.

At this point I'm leaning towards the allparts jaguar neck. I saw someone selling them online for around $130. I'd really prefer a shorterscale, bigger frets, flatter radius, but at this point I'll take what I can get.
