NAD; Peavey Musician

Post by robert(original) »

i saw one of these at the local G.C. for 69.00 bucks, it was missing the knob, but thats it. i almost bought it flat out, but instead i found an old peavey "musician" solid state head, beat to shit, built in fuzz, distortion, tremolo, and revereb. with 4 inputs for 100 bucks, and its fucking LOUD! so of course i put 50 bucks on a 100 dollar head and promised to put another 50 plus the tax on it within thirty days. im a cheap fuck. pics to come!
it looks alot like this one, but on the left top is the gain, speed, and depth knob. bottom of that is distortion, gain, fuzz. and the reverb is on the far right with a master volume and gain. and the eq is low bass, high bass, two mids, and low high, and high high.
i tested it out with a classic vibe tele, fuckin loved the tele, badass fucking guitar! the cab i was playing thru was a generic 4x12 cab, i wanna score a cheap 2x12 cab for it. or just make it into a combo amp. its a good beater.

EDIT*
Picked up the new amp head today. don't have any speakers except the blown 8inch pa speaker pictured(its a peavey as well) and no cable, nor an electric atm.(i took the mustang guar and dumpstar guitar to my parents so they wouldn't get stolen)
I can't wait to plug this thing into a real 4x12 cab and crank it the fuck up! its a shitty shit shit solid state shit machine. i love it.

(200 watts at 2 ohms?)
im guessing this was someones work horse who apparently played in a band called stiarcase. or rather stayrcase....

when i tried it out at G.C. a couple weeks ago i got it sounding pretty fuzzy and dirty, and got a good clean sound at a realtively loud volume, tho passed a certain point there is a hiss. almost a feedback like hiss, not sure if it was since i was using a tele 14 inches away from the speakers with the volume at 7, or if its an issue i need to address, but either way it sounds good. I figure if anything ever goes wrong with it i should be able to find replacement bits and bobs for pretty cheap and the work should be easier enough for most noobs.

I'm really tempted by a cheap second hand Epi. Never played one but for the money it seems like a bit of fun. Plus there's all kinds of Modds available to muck around with.

That Peavey looks beastin'! Love it.

I have the Epi Jr. It's a nice little head. If you find a good deal, pick one up.

EDIT'D WITH ICEY BOMB PICS! I just played on it for a few mins, blew out the p.a. Speaker the rest if the way. But didnt get the same hiss so i guess it was just the distance of the guitar and speaker. I really like the depth/speed, and the revereb is nice and wet sounding, i wish the fuzz was a bit chunkier sounding but it will suffice, the distortion is pretty light, not overly stupid high gain, just kinda messy sounding, i like. I really need a proper speaker and guitar to delve deaper into its depths tjo

sloan, what were the specs of the arena you worked on? there isn't really much on these, i found a lil bit, and saw some examples, but none like mine.
