I think they made Lefty versions of the Cobain Mustang or Cobain Jaguar.

The problem I find with flipping righty guitars is that the knobs usually get in the way and they are not comfortable.
The Cobain Mustang is great, don't know if they are coming up second hand yet in your price range.
Otherwise a CIJ/MIJ Mustang is always a good bet - again don't know what these are going for in the US.

Actually 4 problems, which is why I never do it any more:

1) Knobs get in the way
2) Upside down neck means no edge dot markers
3) Upper fret access
4) Sometimes the guitar feels unbalanced

Now if only Squier would start putting out some of their recent awesomeness in left handed I'd be happy!

exactly my problems. I just bought a squier jag and flipped it. Another problem is intonation. I was looking at the dillion Brian may but want more options on the table. Another question, does putting a righty neck on a lefty body still cause intonation problems? O have an extra allparts jag neck and the kc mustang body seems like a decent idea

I just browsed through ebay, and there were literally two guitars I would play in the lefty under $600 section.

I'm lucky as fuck I play right handed, even though I'm a lefty.

No intonation problems, but you'll need to flip the nut or get a new one cut. Seems like a decent idea.

Same here.

That said, I think I'll be flipping the nut of the Squier Bass VI that I have my eye on. I can see the problem of control knob positioning too, but I just spent a decade and a half persevering with learning right-handed. Sadly us southpaws are a minority, and guitar sales reflect that.

My mate plays lefty. He had the choice of playing right handed as he's not fully left hand dominant, but opted not to.... Think he even writes with his right hand? Don't he realised that options would be so limited.

By the by... Do you mean $600 or Â£600?

$600. I've been playing for 10 years, but just recently have decided I want to play south paw. It's waaaay more natural than right handed to me. I guess I'll be selling my squier jag and trying to find a loaded lefty shortscale body. Hm if only I could just trade lol.

you might actually be better off getting someone to make you a lefty body and using all the guts from the squier to put into the lefty body, everything should fit just fine minus the guard. and the plates can be flipped.
still sucks about the fret markers on the neck, tho i put some into a lefty neck that i strung righty and it was super easy and looked stock.

nope, no intoneation problems. Righty neck, lefty body, plenty of folks on here make bodys. Cooter does, i think. There are a couple others as well, but i cant remember who. Just get a lefty body and guard. Youll be sitting pretty after that.

intonation is all in the nut and the bridge..
just make sure you get yrself a decent tuning pedal, and take your time with it..
as even changing string gauges requires a new setup..

when i was first starting to learn I really wanted to play left handed, as at the time i was far more ambidextrous and predominantly left handed (though school forced me to write right handed since grade 1..) every sport i play i play left handed, bat left handed, etc..

my guitar teacher refused to teach me left handed, well not refused but he laid it out to me, if i wanted to play left handed be prepared to never be able to find what you want, and if you do expect to pay 20 - 50% more for it..

it took a couple years to really train my right hand to strum, i can still fret with both hands, but after 20 years i can no longer play solos with my right hand on the fret board.
