Are they any decent flanger pedals around?

Or is flanger just not a very nice sounding effect?

I have an electric mistress, and I like it a lot. Does everything you'd want a flanger to do, and takes up a lot of board space!

I really don't know why, they could be built much smaller (I did build a clone in the 70s, in a Hammond box, but it takes DC power from an HH amp effects socket). I tend to use a Boss CH-1 chorus pedal these days.

My first effect pedal was a BOSS Bf-2 flanger.

It's a great flanger though I find myself never having a reason to use it. I tend to like my EHX Small Stone phaser better.

I may take the flanger off my pedal board since I am out of space.

The Mooer Elec Lady is supposedly a clone of the Electric Mistress. I got one when they MarcMart was blowing them out for $44. Sounds good, but I don't use flange that much.

Also, seconded/thirded on the Boss BF-2.

in that case, check out the rocktron hypnotic flanger. not metallic at all. more a warbley, watery, chorusy texture, its always got the dry sound running too, with a control to blend the wet in. also, the max setting on the feedback control is quite tame compared to others, so you wont find its all or nothing with regard to intensity. its a really really nice pedal. cheap as piss too.

The HF2 does a great non-metallic flange sound. The BF2 does as well if you dial it in right.

Have ADA reissued their flanger? I've read good things about those. Unless they suffer from Inferior Reissue Disease, in which case ignore this reply entirely.

If you can get a Boss BF-2 for a decent price, I'd say give it a try. I really like it.
