I found this in the used section at my local GC today. The pickups were changed to Bare Knucle pickups

Nice - I used to have a set of Rebel Yells in an LP copy - great pickups. Especially the neck pup, which I still have and is now in my LP Custom.

I assume you know this, but it's not clear from the OP. The two new pots are push-pull jobs and probably do something like splitting the new humbuckers or putting them out of phase.

I like the descriptions and build methods detailed on the Bareknuckle site, but naming the pickups themselves after dinosaur bands puts me off a bit.

Oh, you're so cool.

They're pickups, it's just an attempt to hint at the kind of sound they'd make. It's better than DiMarzio Fast Tracks or something.

I don't fancy putting a pickup named after a band I don't like in my guitar. It can't just be me.

Nope - I was actually circling the Rebel yells a couple of years back and was totally aware that somewhere inside my brain I thought the name/ascociation was total cheese and yes, It slightly put me off. It didn't put me off actually buying them I should add. I didn't buy them...but not because of that doubt.

So no, you'tre not alone Timbo. I don't think having company makes it right though and Watts is kind of right on this ...but fuck it, that's human beings for you.

Funny you wouldn't want a pickup in your guitar because it was named after a cheesey 80's song. Imagine how few people would have picked up a Les Paul Signature guitar just because they didn't like jazz.

*Jimmy Page wanders into a guitar store*

"This guitar looks amazing, and sounds great. But do you have anything that isn't endorsed by a jazz player?"

Tee-hee! Shouldn't it be Billy Idol? Who on earth is that? I mean, Billy Idol was pretty funny in The Wedding Singer, and he's generally pretty self-effacing and good value in interviews... but then there's this:

Did you yank out the push-pull knobs? Any idea what they do?
