I would love to make a Fender XII, the problem is they don't make 12 string bridge like the originals. The only other guitar that used it was the Squier Venus XII.StevePirates wrote:After Squier issued a Bass VI, people started clamoring for an Electric XII. I think there's about a 50/50 chance that they do it.speedfish wrote:Huh?stewart wrote:holding out for the squier VM version.
It's kinda like the Bronco in that way. You have find a vintage bridge which is nearly impossible.

however the modern gotoh style 12 string bridges used on danos and modern fender strat xiis are absolutely fit for purpose and work very well.
i can't say i've played a fender xii but i don't imagine the bridge adds anything particularly special to the tone or setup that the gotoh doesn't match up to. plus the vintage bridge actually a fixed radius which narrows it's function further.

I didn't know they used the original bridge on the first run strats. I am sure the modern 12 string bridges are great, but if you were wanting to build a vintage style Fender XII they don't make them. I am a fan of 7.25" radius so a fixed radius wouldn't bother me as much. I loved the look of the vintage bridge and the saddles with individual intonation was cool as well.George wrote:and the first run of MIJ strat xiistaylornutt wrote:I would love to make a Fender XII, the problem is they don't make 12 string bridge like the originals. Here's a picture of one with the original style bridge. Looks much nicer, to me, than the Gotoh ones. Never had any issues with lack of individual saddle height adjustment on my Venus XII. It's not like I shred on it or anything

I really dig that. I had never seen anything but the Gotoh Version. I might have to keep an eye out for one in the future.
I could play as is or use to make my own Fender XII project.

Nothing to do with me, just popped up on a Google image search when I was looking for a picture of one with the old style bridge.
