NPD x2: Supermoon and Dark Echo.

Post by StevePirates »

After seeing the Supermoon Chrome demo, I decided I wanted one of the pedals, but after watching more demos, I realized that I liked the more subtle effect of the original better. I also liked the color scheme of the original more than the inverted art on the chrome. But then also I found a demo for the same maker's delay pedal, watched the demo and fell in love.

They're both modulated with a sway effect that adds a really spacey sound. Both in single space boxes. Nice switches on each.

Supermoon: Bought new from PGS. Holy crap. I love this thing. The reverb is actually pretty subtle, but the sustain and sway effect last fo' days. The box is well constructed, the black paint is sparkly, which I did not notice from the demos or website. Sounds great through the musicmaster bass and the greta.

Dark Echo: Bought used on ebay from Dawn of the Shred in the LBC (hometown shout out). I bought this as an afterthought to the supermoon based purely on the ad copy.

"What if you could play your guitar in a desolate cave 20,000 leagues under the sea? I pondered this question as I designed the Dark Echo; and when the lab-coat came off, the wet-suit went on and lush echos trailed into oblivion, progressively darkening with every repeat. I dialed the repeat knob to maximum and I was up to my ears in a fluid wash of sound, ebbing and flowing like the tides of the ocean."

My brief time playing it confirms the that ad copy is accurate and not mere puffery.

tl:dr Went on reverb/delay buying binge, no regrets. Recommend both.
Hell is other people.

Good on ya! The Supermoon felt kinda gimicky in concept but then I watched that PGS demo and I was like WOA!

Dawn of the Shred is the shit! I love going in there just to check out their fuzz sometimes. The dude that runs the place has a big Sunn half stack and always at least one guitar tuned way down and the strap low enough to leave the guitar at my knees. I've been meaning to buy something from there as soon as I've got enough money. They even got Dwarfcraft :D
