I was comparing the new Coronado with the old and noticed a few changes:

The hardtail on the new Coronado has a cutout F instead of the white F.
Witch hat knobs instead of the Pedal style knobs
Moved the pickup selector closer to the pickguard
Different pickups.
I can't see what the new bridge looks like, but hopefully its a Mustang style like the original. It looks to have a metal base like the bridge on my Coronado with the tremolo.
New binding is solid white instead of the Rickenbacker checkered binding

The headstock shape looks right, though they decided not to paint them black or matching color. It looks pretty nice with the standard maple headstock.
I think they used a different font on the new one and they dropped the "II" and it just Fender Coronado. The blocks and binding look good as well.

Overall, they pretty much held to the original design. I can't wait to see what color options they offer.

i like the look of starcasters, i don't particularly like 335s, so i'd entertain the idea of getting one. in two minds about the coronado, but part of it is snobby selfishness on my part. i like them being reasonably rare. also, they're by no means perfect guitars, so i wonder if they've made any 'modern' changes construction-wise, or just left them as is.

Holy shit! Finally!
I LOVE the new Coronado!!! I am definitely going to get one. I'm going to get the bass too.
I can't wait until I can get L&M to order one. I wonder how long until they'll be available for order?

Welp, I never thought this day would come. Time to start downsizing my gear collection to make room for a natural Starcaster. ((drool)) ((drool)) ((drool))

This. And bleh. The new starcaster kinda looks like a shitty dauled down 335 knock off. The originals are totally cooler looking.

dont like the new Starcaster very much (i wonder if this means theyll drop the Fender Starcaster budget model?), do like the Coronado. just wish they had used P-90s like the old ones but it really doesnt matter, as long as it is a full hollow body. i'd be pissed if fender cut some corners and made it semi hollow.

Aside from spec preferences the star caster looks like a drunken trollop compared to a 335. F those F holes in the A. Coranado pisses on it too. PRO-TIMHULIO.

Possibly even MIC, since they're doing Fender Acoustics over there.
don't the cij tele thinline and tele custom/deluxe have headstock adjusts? or is it just the mim versions?

According to a guy over on BassTalk these are likely to be MIC:
Guy on BassTalk wrote:I was at lollapallooza this weekend and had the great honor of being in the artist area and being able to play all the basses fender had out. I played both the starcaster and coronado. THey both were so awesome. THe starcaster had a much beefier and neck and sound to me. it was pretty awesome. i believe the guy said that they will be released at namm next year but i could be wrong. Also i believe they will be made in china.

Starcaster Bass is so ace.

I'm trying to sell my Peerless Smoked Bass Custom at the moment, as the thunderous neck humbucker is really hard to handle being so far from the bridge/center scale on the 34" neck, and the above would seem to be so much more practical of a vintage-looking/sounding thumper. #livejournal

All thinlines/customs/deluxes should have headstock adjust because the originals were bullet trusses. I think the usual discrepancy is on "updated" MIM guitars fashioned after pre-CBS or later '60s designs (the MIM Classic series have heel adjust but CPs have it on the head in the name of modern convenience, for example).

WRHBs seem like an odd option for the Starcaster.
