76 bassman 10

Post by robert(original) »

alrighty, so i dug the yee ole bassman out of my parents garage in three pieces, well more like 6 buck im not counting the grill and a a few bits that have fallen off.
its in pretty rough shape, it was rough before, but now its fucking METAL! style rough, or grunge, whatever. good news!!! it fucking works still!!!! these things were built to go thru war! bad news, im getting less than half of my expected volume, im pretty sure its the tubes since i pulled two groove tubes out of box and i don't know how old they are or where they even came from.
the indicator light doesn't come on, but that is normal, it was always finnicky. anywho, does it seem as if i jut need some new tubes for this beast or dos thou believe there may be more going on? i suppose the only way to find out is to get some tubes and try it out again. which leads me to my next question. is there a good place to get discounted tubes? im strapped for cash and cant really spill out alot for a good set, i just need two 6l6 power tubes. or so i think, i believe the pre-amp tubes are fine.

I buy tubes from a company in Oregon called Eurotubes. They deal in JJ Electronics tubes. They sell individuals, and kits for numerous types of amps. I would check in to them. Eurotubes
