Really Fender? A new American made Mustang for the Les Paul fanatic? Why can't you just make what we want instead of what you think Gibson fans want? Hopefully this is a hoax.

Looks like there's also an American Special Jazzmaster. At least it looks like it has proper Jazzmaster pickups instead of hambackers, so it's not pointless. But it has a tuneomatic and stop tail piece. If a modern player Jazzmaster can have a proper trem, why can't an American made Jazzmaster have one?

My hyperbole aside, I'm sure they're both great guitars. I just don't understand why they would take a unique guitar like the mustang and turn it into an HH/tuneomatic guitar, which are as ubiquitous and as common as strats and teles. I'm sure it will appeal to a lot of people and sell well, but wouldn't they sell more of them if they had mustang pickups, in order to be able to actually sound like a mustang? I'm not saying they shouldn't sell these, but it just feels like a big cock tease when they release a model like this but then don't release one with single coils, phase switches, and a mustang trem.

i suppose they reckon the current japanese models have that market sewn up.
they really should do one with a jag trem though, they're missing a trick.

The tailpiece doesn't work at all on the stang. The Jazzmaster is the wrong side of borderline...

Most people almost make those exact changes to the mustang. Lock down the tail and replace the bridge with a tom. It just loses the big metal aesthetic.
Guitars:
2014 American Deluxe Stratocaster
2013 Gibson SG 61RI
1998 Paul Reed Smith CE22

Looks pretty classy to me... and if I ever require a more Gibsonish sound then at least I don't have to buy a Gibson. Love the tort on black

This guitar won't sound or feel anything like a Gibson, let's be honest.

Does Fender even match the bridge/fingerboard radius? I am not aware of any 9.5" radius TOM's, but I am probably wrong...
